God in a Manger!
Christmas is a time when we often see images of Jesus as a newborn baby. When we do, it is kind of hard to imagine all that Jesus was and is. Yes, Jesus was born to Mary in Bethlehem, but that was not the beginning of the second person of the Trinity. He is eternal. He has no beginning and no end. He was never created for He is self-existent. In the book of Isaiah, Isaiah tries to describe when he...

Don’t be a Zombie!
The living dead are amongst us! You might even be one! Someone you know might be a Zombie! Well, something can always be said of shock value. The living dead are amongst us! You might even be one! Someone you know might be a Zombie! Well, something can always be said of shock value. So how are we in any way like zombies that are part dead and part alive? Well, it’s like this, even though you or...

Do you need advice?
I need to talk to someone! If you were in need of life saving surgery, would you go to a first year medical student and ask him to perform the surgery? Of course not, you would prefer a doctor who has completed many years of school and has many years of experience.  But why? I’m sure both men would do try their hardest.  However, while both men would do the best job they could do, one would...

Who should I date?
In the 11th grade, my youth director told me something really deep. He told me that I was going to marry someone I dated.   Wow, ground breaking news! Well “of course”, I thought. Congratulations on stating the obvious Mr. Youth Director!   Actually, his point was that you shouldn’t go out with a person that you would not marry. The qualities you desire in your eventual spouse should be the...

Guys, train your eyes to look at females from the shoulders up. Summertime is a dangerous time for guys’ eyes. Temptations are all around! Be careful! It’s easy for guys to want to give girls the “up down” (looking them up and down as one student put it), but do your best to avoid concentrating on the girls’ bodies. If you continue to do so it only leads to more lustful looks and more lustful...

Don't lose ground this summer.
Quick point of advice. Don’t check out mentally and spiritually just because summer is here.  Keep making progress. Yes, a little fun in the sun and relaxation is much deserved, but do something productive everynow and then.

Regaining Trust
What do you do if you have lost the trust of someone due to a slip up in your character? Remember why you have lost someone’s trust. It is easy to move on quickly and think that everyone else should too. Remember, you gave them a reason not to trust you now.   Someone has been hurt. It is painful to trust someone and then have that person abuse it.   Rebuilding trust takes work. One bad...

Make it really be a "Happy New Year"
This new year look to the future, but also look at your past.  Evaluate the quality of choices that you have been placing on your foundation.  Take a moment, think about your future, and look at the foundation that you have built so far.  Is it going to get you where you want to go? Everybody has messed up before. It’s like the famous old philosopher Hannah Montana once said “Everybody makes...

Merry Christmas Everybody!
Ahhhhh!  Time with my family!  I love it! I love this time of year.  Lots of fake meanings for Christmas out there.  Remember the only real one is the remembrance of the Son of God taking on flesh to become the Christ, the Savior of the World. Keep that in mind this year and getting socks or underwear for Christmas want be dissapointing.

Morals Anybody?
So, what are morals anyway? A person’s morals could be defined as the standard they set for what they define as right and wrong. Morals often have to do with a person’s character, integrity, and purity. A few quick examples would be your views on lying, cheating, or stealing. But it goes deeper than that, for instance, how you treat other people, what you allow your eyes to see, what you...

No Excuses
When a person does not find success, it is most common to blame something in their life that they had no control over. This is the easy way out.  It allows them to bow out of success with no blame or responsibility.  But from what I have seen, people are who they are because they make themselves that way.   Chuck Swindoll once said, “Life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% of what you do with...

Planning for Greatness?
Successful people don’t just set goals for their lives; They take the steps needed to attain them!  Every young person has an idea, dream, or goal of what they want their life to be like.   Some of them will go on to attain those dreams and some will not.  What seems to make the difference? When I was in the 7th grade, I told my friends that I would be a millionaire by the time I was 20.  Sounded...

Choices Have Consequences!!
Choices Have Consequences! The choices you have made in the past define who you are today.  Who you will be and where you will be in twenty years will depend on the decisions that you are making right now! No pressure right! I say this not to make you panic, but to hopefully wake you up to the reality that today’s choices matter.  They are shaping your future successes or failures.  No matter how...

Parent's Role In Developing High Moral Standards
A young person without morals is like a car without a steering wheel or a ship without a rudder. These teens become adults who go through life with no restraint, and sooner or later, they must face the consequences of their reckless decisions. We know that morals are extremely important to having a quality life, but what can we do to help our teens see that? Here are three steps that will get you...

New Year Resolutions. Good Or Bad?
New Year Resolutions. Good or Bad?Today at 5:49amThe gym that I workout at will soon be so packed that I will not even be able to find a parking place. However, this problem will only last two months max. Why? Because the bulk of the new crowd is made up of the New Year Resolution people. Though bad for parking, these people keep most gyms in business. Seventy percent of the people that pay for a...

How to talk to your teenager.
Many parents find that in the struggle of growing up, their teen becomes unwilling to open up and talk to their family. One of the greatest contributors for a teen’s success is an open line of communication between them and their parents. Do everything you can to keep it open. Here are three steps that can help to establish communication between you and your teen. 1) Start with something...

When some people find that their lives did not turn out the way they wanted them to, they look back and blame other people, their surroundings, or their circumstances.  But from what I have seen, we are who we are because we made ourselves this way.  As Chuck Swindoll, the inspirational author, once said, “Life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% of what you do with it.”   You many...

If you don't have anything good to say.....
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me! While this little saying may seem to thwart a second grade bully, it is not 100% true.   One cruel word towards someone, especially a young person, has the power to drastically affect them. Your words have the power to discourage and destroy.  Most poeple do not realize just how powerful their words are.  The good news is...

More Than Feelings
“As you construct the foundation of your life, don’t make your choices based solely on feelings and emotions.  Instead, cautiously, rationally, and logically think through your decisions.  Many lives are ruined due to one, irrational, quick decision.  As you are debating certain activities and choices in your life, I suggest asking yourself a few questions.  Ask yourself:  Will this...

Dating Tip
Never go out with someone you wouldn’t marry!  Not that you are trying to get married right now, but the qualities you desire in your eventual spouse should be the same qualites that you look for in a person that you date. Some people have lower standards for dating than they do for marriage, but in actuality, they should be one in the same.  Never have a girlfriend or boyfriend just to have...

Who do you respect?
Never, look up to someone for lowering their moral standards (drinking, drugs, relationships, etc..).  That is easy and anyone can do that.  Instead, look up to, and become, a person who in the face of immense peer pressure continues to choose to live at a higher standard no matter what!  Now that takes courage!

Waiting for a Dating Disaster?
You should never date someone with the hope of changing them into the person you want them to be. Although there are exceptions, people are who they are.  Who they are now is usually a good indicator of who they will be in the future.  Keep your standards high!

When you make a mistake, don’t ignore it.  Acknowledge it, learn your lesson, and move on.  You...

Once a moral downgrade has set in, it is difficult to stop the momentum.  One lie turns into 2 then three etc.  Physical touch in relationships virtually always progresses.  One drink that leads to another, or one hit off a joint that leads to a lifetime of addiction.   Set your moral standards high, and you will never regret it.  The higher a persons morals are, the higher their success in life...
